Paying Taxes And Heavy Financial Burdens

A message from Matthew 22

What I'm about to say requires faith on our part. It's easy to get weighed down with the stresses of this life; the rising costs due to inflation, shortages, and various other reasons. The good news is God does not sleep and He is very aware of everything that is going on.

Jesus says this in Matthew 10,
29 Aren't two sparrows sold for only a penny? But your Father knows when any one of them falls to the ground. 30 Even the hairs on your head are counted. 31 So don't be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows.
-Matthew 10:29-31

We have to step out in faith and lean on God. We have to depend on Him. This is what He wants. The Bible says it over and over again that the LORD provides for those who depend on Him.
This repetition is needed because far too often we still fail to "get it". We still wind up being afraid like Peter was when he stepped out of the boat to walk on the water towards Jesus.

24 By this time the boat was a long way from the shore. It was going against the wind and was being tossed around by the waves. 25 A little while before morning, Jesus came walking on the water toward his disciples. 26 When they saw him, they thought he was a ghost. They were terrified and started screaming.

27 At once, Jesus said to them, “Don't worry! I am Jesus. Don't be afraid.”

28 Peter replied, “Lord, if it really is you, tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come on!” Jesus said. Peter then got out of the boat and started walking on the water toward him.

30 But when Peter saw how strong the wind was, he was afraid and started sinking. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.

31 At once, Jesus reached out his hand. He helped Peter up and said, “You surely don't have much faith. Why do you doubt?”

-Matthew 14:24-31

No matter where we are in life, no matter how many times we screwed up, Jesus can make a way. He is the Author of all creation. For all you Matrix fans, He is the "NEO" to this Matrix.

Jesus isn't concerned about money or the riches of this world. It is rubbish to Him. He owns the world and everything in it. What Jesus wants is your heart. He wants you to depend on Him.

Jesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and all those "little things" in life we worry about will be added to us. The important thing; the number one thing, is to seek Him.
