Falling In Love With God’s Word

When I first kickstarted this ministry, my goal was to share my passion of God’s Word with other Christians.  While there are many outreach programs that focus on nonbelievers, that was not my original goal.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to doing that.  I just felt that there was a HUGE calling to reach out to those who profess to be Christians but fail to spend time in God’s Word.

Before I continue, I just want to make it very clear that I’m not judging anyone for their lack of reading the Bible.  Perhaps you are someone like myself that grew up in a Christian home and went to church every Sunday, but then fell away some time in your twenties when you and your friends discovered bars, partying, and drugs.

If you’ve hit a dead end in your life and you feel like there is no hope, I’m here to tell you there is hope.  Jesus knows you better than you know yourself and He knows all of the decisions you’ve made, good and bad.  While that might be a scary thought for some, I encourage you to allow that thought to give you some peace.  Instead of running from the Truth and from love and from peace, surrender yourself today to Jesus who is waiting to hear from you.

I’ve been down that road.  I’ve used drugs and I drank myself silly and one thing I can tell you for certain is there is no end or resolve on that road to destruction.  Once that high comes down and the booze wears off, you’re exactly where you started again.  What once started out as something new and fun has evolved into a crutch that you find difficult living without.

That’s because we all have a void in life when we are lacking spiritual fulfillment from God and if those needs aren’t met, we try to fill those needs with other things.  The problem is, there is no substitute for Jesus when it comes to nourishment for your soul.  After endless bottles of booze, you’ll find your soul emptier than when you first started filling that void.  It doesn’t work and it will never work.

Over a year ago, I picked up a Bible, and I never put it down.  I’ve grown such a passion for reading God’s Word, and ever since, I’ve been wanting to share this passion with other people who share a faith in Jesus Christ, no matter how strong or weak that faith may be.  Why?  Because the Word of God will IGNITE your soul.  The void you’ve been longing to fill has been starved and deprived of the beautiful Word of God that teaches us all of the amazing promises and instructions God has for your life.

There’s all sorts of reasons why people fail to read the Bible, so I’m just going to touch on one reason in this post.  I daresay a lot of people avoid reading the Bible because they get frustrated and find it hard to understand.  There are many translations of the Bible in the English language and many of the older translations are difficult to understand and process in modern day times, especially if you aren’t accustomed to reading the Bible.

This is where my ministry first came to be.  I wanted to share with everyone the Bible translation that changed everything for me.  While I read multiple versions of the Bible to this day, what kickstarted my Bible-reading marathon was the CEV (Contemporary English Version) Bible.  The team of translators took the Word of God and translated it into a version of English that’s as readable as the words in this post.  Perhaps even more readable!

The reason why this is so important is because the Bible covers so many important concepts and instead of wrestling with words on the page, it allows you to wrestle with the concepts presented in this Good Book!  And that’s what I say ALL of the time.  I’d rather you wrestle with the concepts than with words on a page.

If you or someone you know needs a Bible, feel free to to reach out by sending me a message in our Facebook group or through this website.

In my final thoughts, I want to share with you a Bible verse that means so much to me that I wound up naming the ministry after it:
I was a nobody, but I prayed, and the LORD saved me from all my troubles.
Psalms 34:6

Amen!  May Jesus Christ bless you with peace and do for you what He has done for me.
